Format Perspective: Bertrand Trichet

Here’s the final preview clip for Format Perspective, from Frenchman Bertrand Trichet’s section that was shot on a trip to Japan with Phil Zwijsen & Pontus Alv.  I’d already shot with Pontus for Nil’s section and knew he would rip, but I’d never met Phil, the Belgian machine! Both guys killed it and Bert took so many photos that it was quite difficult to make a choice for the final edit.
The local guys could not have been nicer to us, they brought us to all the best skate spots, food spots & drink spots and treated us like Kings, really want to go back!

Format Perspective: Sergej Vutuc

The penultimate preview for Format Perspective from Sergej Vutuc- this section was shot on a trip across Germany, Croatia and Slovenia, with Ferit Batir & hair dresser extrordinaire Gabriel Engelkealong for the ride as well as plenty of local goodness.
Sergej’s photos are quite different from most skate photography in composition alone, but when you add his development and printing processes (which he does himself) you get a very unique final result..

Format Perspective: Rich Gilligan

Next up we have Rich Gilligan’s Format Perspective preview with some shreddage from Gav Coughlan.  It was nice that Rich put the effort into his section to shoot with a few different format, especially the large format stuff as you rarely see it used so much nowadays. Its also quite nice to have someone as consistent as Gav to shoot “I’ll just do it this go” Then he does it. “Can you do it again?” OK. Why can’t I skate like that? Oh yeah, I’ve lead in me hole.

HP in the hizzle

I’m in a show with the Human Pyramids band of horses over in the Ar4t gallery in Laguna beach California next week. Although I may look like I am at home editing and not at the show, its merely a spiritual illusion, for I am there, within every glass of free tequila that will be spilling down the punter’s throats and bringing them one step closer to “a sound art investment”. Best of luck you guyth!

Analogue ghosts

I'm at the stage of the editing process of this project where I'm really getting stuck into the fine details and smaller touches- its at this stage I notice little things like there accidental bizzare double exposures.
In the first one Gav is skating straight outta' Liliput into Marney's brush of doom and in the one below, our beloved soundman Gibbo is about to get a Hassleblad upside his head.

Random stuff..the joys of analogue!

Raw Hide

I like to bring a sktchbook on trips, especially if I'm doing any leg of the journey on my own, beats buying airport shiterature anyday.
Anyway, this doodle was done in the wee wee hours in an abandoned petrol station that has been turned into a DIY skate spot in Slovenia.

It was nice to sketch some stuff in a room full of people and not feel anti-social as most people there were getting in on the mix.. like Mia who came out with such radness as the pic below..good times! There's lots more pics, I'll post them up when my editing duties on the project get wrapped up..

Format Perspective: Stuart Robinson

Big Stu was the man that this entire project started with, a top chap with a keen eye and some interesting things to say about his home city and the skaters that reside in it. Peep below for a preview for his section featuring some plank dancing of Conhuir & Denis Lynn..
